It is a great honor and pleasure for our school to witness the publication of the presentation of two internationally distinguished projects of Ralleio Lykeio on the official UNESCO website. The projects were presented in the framework of the 5th World Cultural Heritage Youth Symposium 2024 in Ancient Olympia, with the presence of the International Coordinator of UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) Mrs. Julie Saito Loubière on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 April 2024.
In particular, English teacher and UNESCO ASPnet Focal Point for Ralleio Lykeio and the Directorate of Secondary Education of Piraeus Mrs. Katerina Christodoulou was invited by the organizers to design and coordinate a teacher training workshop on the integration of Living Heritage in the daily teaching practice in her capacity as UNESCO Individual Expert on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in school education. Also, during the first global presentation of UNESCO's new educational framework "Arts for Transformative Education" by UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) International Coordinator Ms Julie Saito Loubière, Ms Christodoulou was invited to present the school's work implemented in four languages in the framework of the international campaign Gift A Poem as international model practice. https://ralleiolykeio.mysch.gr/index.php/gr/ekpaideftika-programmata/unesco-aspnet/2079-21-3-2023-pagkosmia-imera-poiisis
The workshops were attended by teachers from 24 schools in 14 countries from all over the world, who participated with their students in the Symposium organized at the premises of the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia (17-21/4/2024) by the Hellenic Cultural and Educational Association for UNESCO, with the support of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO, the United Nations Information Centre and the UNESCO Chair of the University of Macedonia under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee.
The presentations were conducted in collaboration with UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) National Coordinator Mrs. Vera Dilari, whom we would like to thank for the many years of excellent cooperation and unreserved support of the projects and initiatives that Ralleio Lykeio has designed and implemented at national, European and international level.
