ERASMUS+ KA1 (2023-2025): "SUSTAINING AND EMPOWERING OUR SCHOOL CULTURE /CULT", 2023-1-EL01-KA122-SCH-000115245
As a member of European and international networks, Ralleio, certified 3 times with Sustainable School Label, has incorporated in its holistic school culture and works systematically on all 4 Erasmus+ priorities (inclusion, digital learning, education for sustainable development, democracy and global citizenship education) by implementing relevant projects and by integrating the priorities in the daily teaching practice of many subjects, either through the methodology used or through the topics explored since the 1990's. However, in 2021, five teachers retired, who had highly contributed in the development and the promotion of our holistic school culture by implementing a variety of cross-cutting curricular and extracurricular projects and activities. At the same time, their positions are filled every year with substitute or newly appointed teachers, who have to leave the school at the end of every school year.
In order to sustain and empower our school culture and its extrovert features and in order to transfer these to our temporarily appointed colleagues, three permanently appointed teachers will attend structured courses to update their knowledge and skills on pertinent topics. Upon return, they will act as multipliers of the new knowledge and as mentors to the temporarily appointed teachers thus promoting the basic priorities and our holistic school culture to the benefit of the final recipients, that is the students. In addition, in this way, the professional development of the temporarily appointed colleagues is supported, as well as the transfer of the new knowledge to the schools of their future appointment.
The following are expected to benefit: 1. the school, as an organization with the specific culture (having yielded excellent results regarding knowledge, skills, competences and attitudes for both students and teachers so far), 2. the positive school climate because of teachers' cross-curricular cooperation and contextualized teaching and learning, 3. our temporarily appointed colleagues (who will receive professional development support, share good practices and acquire insight to be transferred to the schools of their future appointment) and, last but not least, 4. the students, who will continue to benefit from quality transformative education, democratic participation in school life and enhanced environmental awareness. Additionally, it is expected that the school's extroversion and internationalized outlook will be sustained, which decisively contributes to the development of the students' Global Citizenship and Intercultural Competences through the methodology and topics included in the daily teaching practice.
