The Directorate of Secondary Education of Piraeus, through the Office of European and International Programs, organized an online event to disseminate the work of UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet), on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of its establishment. The event was held on 17 October 2023 and was organized in cooperation with the Directorate for European & International Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, which is responsible for the national coordination of the Network in Greece. The dissemination event was addressed to the Directors and Assistant Directors of the schools of Piraeus, and aimed at informing them of the activities of the Network with the perspective of joining as members, if they so wish.
Opening remarks were addressed by the Head of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Piraeus Dr Dionysios Anastasopoulos and the Head of the Directorate of European & International Affairs of the Ministry, Ms. Vasiliki Makri, to be followed by a presentation of the national and international operation of UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) by the National Coordinator, Ms. Vera Dilari.
Presentations of international pilot programs and good practices followed by representatives of member schools in the area of Piraeus. Ms Katerina Christodoulou, teacher and ASPnet school coordinator at Ralleio and Officer at the European & International Programs Office of the Directorate, who organized the event, presented the Joint UNESCO-EU Pilot Project Teaching and Learning with Living Heritage and the project designed and implemented in its framework at Ralleio Lykeio Rebetiko: an interdisciplinary approach to integrating Intangible Cultural Heritage in the daily teaching practice within her capacity as UNESCO certified Individual Specialist.
