On Saturday 18 March 2023, in the framework of the hybrid Conference and Teacher Training Workshop "Teaching Intangible Cultural Heritage and with Intangible Cultural Heritage, UNESCO's model for the integration of Intangible Cultural Heritage in school education", two projects implemented in our school, as a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network ASPnet, were presented. These are the "The MED Project", which is about inscribed ICH element Mediterranean Diet and was implemented in the framework of the Erasmus+ ROOTS program, and the project "ICH Rebetiko: an interdisciplinary proposal for the integration of Intangible Cultural Heritage in everyday teaching practice", which was implemented in the framework of the joint UNESCO-European Union pilot project "Teaching and Learning with Living Heritage". Ralleio Lykeio was selected to represent Greece as one of the 10 European schools which participated in the pilot project workshops held in Vienna (October 2019) and Rotterdam (February 2020).
The Hybrid Conference and Workshop took place at the National Library of Greece and was co-organized by the Directorate of Modern Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture & Sports and the Directorate of European and International Affairs of the Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003) and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of UNESCO ASPnet Network of Associated Schools. The morning session, addressed to members and officials of the general education community, was attended by 53 participants in the venue and 130 participants online while the workshop, addressed to teachers only, was attended by 35 participants in the venue and 44 participants online.
During the presentations of the morning session, the project of our school "Rebetiko: an interdisciplinary proposal for the integration of Intangible Cultural Heritage in everyday teaching practice" was presented as a case study on the integration of Intangible Cultural Heritage in school education published in the UNESCO Teaching and Learning with Living Heritage, a Resource Kit for Teachers. In the afternoon Teacher Training workshop to familiarize UNESCO ASPnet school teachers with the proposed integration methodology, "The MED Project" was presented as a best practice.
Both presentations were delivered by the coordinator of the two projects, Ralleio teacher of English language Katerina Christodoulou, who also edited the training material for and coordinated the Teacher Training workshop.
