Seven teachers participated in the two-stage project aiming at integrating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Education for Global Citizenship in the daily teaching practice over a period of 4 months. Stage one was the compilation of a digital library of UNESCO publications on the subject in the school’s digital cloud by the school’s UNESCO coordinator Ms K. Christodoulou (EFL teacher). After consulting the educational material, the teachers were mentored by the coordinator regarding practical teaching methodology in order to integrate Sustainability in their daily teaching practice using the model of Transformative Education and the Whole-School Approach to ESD and GCED.
Special lesson plans and interdisciplinary teaching scenarios were created in the following subjects: English as a Foreign language (all classes), Literature and English as a Foreign Language (interdisciplinary-C’ class), Civics (A’ class), Modern Greek Language & Literature (B’ & C’ classes), History (B’ & C’ classes) and Philosophy (B’ class).
