The meeting, which was organized by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO, took place on line on Tuesday 12/1/2020, with the participation of Ms Anastasia Gika, Secretary General for Primary, Secondary and Special Education of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and Ms Ekaterini Tzitzikosta, President of the Hellenic National Commission for and was attended by 110 UNESCO ASPnet school teachers from all over Greece. The subject of the meeting was the integration of Intangible Cultural Heritage in school based education.

The Teacher Training Meeting started with the presentation of the theoretical framework and educational material available at http://ayla.culture.gr/en/ by Ms Helena Bazini, from the Directorate of Contemporary Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture and Sports. It went on with the presentation of the joint UNESCO-EU pilot project “Integrating Intangible Cultural Heritage in school-based education” by Ms Vera Dilari, National Coordinator ASPnet Greece, General Directorate for International and European Affairs, Education for Hellenic Diaspora and Intercultural Education at the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. The meeting was concluded with the presentation of the design and implementation of the project “New steps on an old path: Interdisciplinary Cross-curricular project to integrate Intangible Cultural Heritage in the daily teaching practice” at Ralleio GEL Thileon Peiraia by Katerina Christodoulou, coordinating teacher of the project at the school, thus offering attending primary and secondary education teachers a comprehensive recommendation on methods, ways and ideas as to how to integrate an element of Intangible Cultural Heritage in curricular lesson planning, extracurricular school projects and European programs.
