We are happy to announce that we were given the opportunity to present the cross curricular pilot Project “Rebetiko: Old Steps on a New Path” at the international on line conference "The role of Intercultural Dialogue in managing diversity in Europe" organized by the Project Jean Monnet EUVadis of the University of Macedonia on 19/11/2020.
The presentation by Ms V. Dilari (National UNESCO ASPnet Coordinator) and by K. Christodoulou (EFL teacher and Ralleio UNESCO coordinator), entitled “The Promotion of Intercultural Dialogue in Schools through Intangible Cultural Heritage”, focused on the joint pilot UNESCO-EU project "Raising awareness about and learning with cultural heritage in European schools", in which our school participated during the school year 2019-20 representing the Greek ASPnet. The application of our school for the project was based on a 2017-18 project about the Intangible Cultural Heritage element Mediterranean Diet, implemented in the framework of Erasmus+KA2 project “Routes to Outdoor-Oriented Teaching and Sustainability/ROOTS” with four European schools.
The presentation was well received with enthusiastic comments by the attendees and the panel of University Professors and Experts of the 3rd session of the Conference. Ms Dilari and Ms Christodoulou had the opportunity to answer questions regarding several aspects of the project’s design, implementation and evaluation.
In the framework of the cross curricular pilot project “Rebetiko: Old Steps on a New Path” (school year 2019-2020), B1 and A3 students were taught Physical Education (by Ms E. Kakogianni), Greek Literature (by Mr D. Christopoulos), Information and Communication Technology (by Mr D. Aggelidakis) and English as a Foreign Language (by Ms K. Christodoulou) with Rebetiko as an element of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The poster of the project was designed by P. Markopoulos.
