Framework: Sensitisation of Teachers and respective Programmes towards the equality of the sexes ?The Teenagers of Today?

Coordinating teacher: Ms A. Argyriou (Philologist)

Participating students: all the students of class A3

The methodology used for the particular project was the questionnaire. The aim of the questionnaire was to study the conceptions that teenage girls and boys develop for their peers. The mental images that they form as well as the patterns that they have internalized concerning the behavior of the two sexes at school and in the society are particularly important if we are to comprehend the way in which they experience the identities of the different sexes at adolescence. These images and patterns play also an important part in decoding their behavior in and out of the school environment by observing themselves and others.

On the whole, the answers of the students and their comments on the questionnaire during the discussion which followed were surprising, creative and intriguing for all of us, thus offering the opportunity for further activities that promote the idea of the Equality of the Sexes within the school environment.

The project was designed and implemented by Ms Antiopi Argyriou (Philologist) and was funded by the Operational Programme for Education and Initial Vocational Training.
