The educational trip of Ralleio B’ class students, which took place from Saturday, March 31 to Tuesday, April 1, 2025, was a journey to Northern Greece, with accommodation in Thessaloniki.
The first day was dedicated to travel, with several stops for rest. Before arriving in Thessaloniki, we visited the archaeological site of Dion, where we admired the enchanting natural landscape as well as the site’s connection to antiquity and the worship of the twelve Olympian gods.
On the second day, we visited the impressive archaeological site of Vergina, including the tomb of Philip and his wife, and were fascinated by the golden funerary offerings discovered there. Our next stop was Edessa, known for its famous waterfalls.
The third day was devoted to exploring the “nymph of Thermaikos,” Thessaloniki. We toured the city's monuments, such as the White Tower, the Rotunda, the Church of Saint Demetrios with its crypt, the Upper Town with its ancient walls, the castles, the Yedi Kule prison, and the small refugee houses noted for their distinctive architecture.
The fourth and final day included another site of historical significance: the Bridge of Gorgopotamos in Lamia, which we visited before returning to Piraeus.
The head of our trip was Assistant Director Petros Zoumblios, accompanied by the teachers Christina Volonaki, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, and Maria Papaioannou.
