Relleio Lykeio welcomed twenty students and two teachers from Finnish senior high school Grankulla Samscola, Helsinki on 9/5/2017 in the framework of their educational visit to Athens.

Our guests participated in a specially designed interactive Philosophy workshop along with 15 B class Ralleio students. The interactive workshop included a theoretical presentation- introduction on ancient Greek philosophers, from the pre-Socratic ones to Aristotle, and the way their philosophical work was connected to that of the ancient Greek tragedians. For the next stage of the workshop, Finnish and Greek students were divided into mixed nationality groups and played a specially designed interactive Philosophy game. Finally, the groups discussed various philosophical subjects, such as mesotis, free will, self-knowledge, using cue cards based on selected quotes by the afore mentioned philosophers and presented their views to the group as a whole.

After the workshop Finnish and Greek students had the opportunity to discuss about the educational systems of both countries. Ralleio students offered each of their Finnish peers a bag of lavender which was collected, dried and packaged by Ralleio Garden Team.

Grankulla Samscola and Ralleio Lykeio have cooperated once more in the past. Ralleio Director Dr Dimitris Kalaitzidis and EFL Teacher Ms Katerina Christodoulou went on job shadowing of their counterparts, Mr Niklas Wahlstr?m and Ms Sarah Mattila, in Grankulla Samscola for two weeks in April 2015 in the framework of Ralleio Erasmus+ KA1 program ?Improving the school?.

The interactive Philosophy workshop was designed, prepared and coordinated by Ms Kalliope Bechraki (Philosophy Teacher) and Ms Katerina Christodoulou (EFL Teacher).
