Dakar, Senegal, 21-23 November 2016

In the framework of promoting Global Action Program-GAP and continuing the Decade for Sustainable Development (2005-2014), UNESCO organized a training seminar for Trainers-Multipliers regarding Climate Change.

As people realize that climate change is here to stay causing many various and serious problems, they try to find ways to reduce its repercussions and moderate its intensity.

To achieve these two goals it has been suggested that education for climate change may well be quite an effective measure. Therefore, through UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet), the educational program ?Getting Climate Change Ready? will be promoted for use in all pilot schools.

At the present, there are twelve countries cooperating in this pilot phase, Greece being one of them. Five Greek teachers in total have participated in the two training seminars for teachers-multipliers. Ralleio Lykeio Director Dr Dimitris Kalaitzidis not only participated in both of them but he also laid down a particular proposal for the implementation of the program in all pilot schools.

There will be a seminar in January 2017 for teachers and directors of 40 Greek ASPnet schools so that the program ?Whole School Approach towards Education for Climate Change? can be fully implemented.
