The programme is an action under ?Jean Monnet?, Information and Research Activities carried out by the University of Piraeus, School of Economics, Business and International Studies, Department of International and European Studies, organized by Lecturer F. Asderaki (Academic Coordinator). YouthActiv is addressed to young students (aged 16-18) and stresses the importance of the EU to young people designing educational activities which operate as an integrated experience and developing innovative models of dissemination of information about the EU, so that students realize the way it works and understand its role and impact on the life of EU citizens. It informs teachers and students about EU issues and motivates young people to acquire the skills and knowledge to live in a European environment becoming active European citizens. The main objectives of the program are to inform society focusing on young people, to sensitize them on issues of European integration, to create an online platform (EU ? dialogues) for the voice of young people on issues of EU to be heard, to provide online tools with an aim to satisfy the needs of young people and help them in better understanding the EU, and, finally, to produce articles that reflect directly the opinion of future European citizens.

Forty seven Ralleio students and seven Ralleio teachers attended the seminars held at the facilities of the University of Piraeus on Saturday 5 April 2014, on the subjects of EU history, EU governance, European citizenship, European educational programs, initiatives for young people (Erasmus +, Youth on the Move) and youth entrepreneurship. Each seminar was followed by a discussion, an ?EU dialogue?, with the active participation of teachers, students, the academic coordinator, the program academic committee, various youth organizations and other invited visitors (journalists, representatives of the European Parliament etc.).

The most interactive part of the program was the active participation of students using adjusted texts about the history and structural reforms of the EU and interactive games of knowledge (quizzes, puzzles , etc.) that transformed them into ?journalists of the EU?. After being informed on EU issues during the seminars, the students created a short story (or video or article or a combination of both) about how they see the development of the EU from their own point of view, with the guidance of Balkan Beyond Borders, an NGO that uses art and new media seeking to promote youth movement and youth cooperation in the Balkans. The stories of the students will be posted on the mini portal and other social media (youtube, facebook, Vimeo) for further dissemination of the project results. The best journalists of the EU will win a prize.
