All the students of our school attended the lecture entitled ?Modern day slavery, an international tragedy? which was delivered in English by Ms Judy Boyle, EFL Teacher, writer and social activist. The event took place at the school premises on 15 November 2012 and was organized by Dr Demetra Bechlikoudi, Head EFL Teacher and Teacher Advisor for Piraeus and Ms Katerina Christodoulou, EFL Teacher at Ralleio Lykeio.

Ms Boyle referred to the international tragedy of modern day slavery and its links to organized crime not only by presenting figures and documents but also by showing visual material in order to raise the awareness of our students and teachers on the particular subject. We were all sensitized by the vivid presentation of works of art, such as posters, drawings, installations, short films, video clips, music and dance performances against human trafficking produced by school and university students at an international level.

The event was organized in the interdisciplinary framework of English Language (A. Kotsifa and K. Christodoulou, EFL Teachers), Project A class ?The Rights of the Child? (N. Panagiotopoulos, Sociology Teacher) and Project B class ?Violence and Crime? (M. Kondakis, Mathematics Teacher).

Technical support: D. Aggelidakis (ICT Teacher)
