The ceremony took place at the Grand Hall of the Ministry of Education on Thursday 4 October 2012 with the participation of more than 200 teachers and students from 18 schools from all over the country.

The schools presented their activities and projects within the framework of the Sustainable School Award. Special mention should be made to the presentations by the teachers and the students of the three schools for children with special needs from Larisa, Patras and Ilion. The teachers and students from Alexandroupoli, in the far north of Greece, participated through Skype connection.

The awards and merits were presented to the schools by the Special Secretary of the Greek Ministry of Education, the Founder, the Chairman and the Secretary of the Greek Society, the Chairman and the vice Chairman of the Council for Environmental Education, the representative of the Leventis Foundation, University Professors, the national Coordinator of the ?Sustainable School Award? and Director of Ralleio Lykeio, Dr Dimitris Kalaitzidis, and, finally, by representatives of the local authorities of the areas of origin of the participating schools.

Ralleio Lykeio participated with a group of 30 students accompanied by Ms A. Keskasiadou (Greek Language Teacher) and Mr N. Kollias (Science Teacher). Ms S. Stamatakou, student of B class, presented the whole ceremony which lasted three and a half hours.

The Sustainable School Award Competition will take place for the school year 2012-2013 under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Education.
