PIREAS, MARCH 2007

Our school hosted 15 students accompanied by 2 teachers, Mr Berthold and Ms Bauer. The students were hosted by the families of 15 Ralleion students. The programme of the visit was as follows:

Saturday 17/3 and Sunday 18/3:

  • the Austrian students were entertained by the host families.

Monday 19/3:

  • Informal reception at Ralleion
  • DVD presentation regarding the rise of the Athenian Democracy and the mineral resources of Attica (Lavrion) at the time.
  • Visit and guided tour of the Town Hall of Pireas
  • Tour of the city of Piraeus by coach.

Tuesday 20/3:

  • Visit to the Acropolis of Athens
  • Tour of the archaeological sites of Thission, Ancient Market and Dionyssus Theatre
  • Walk in the traditional districts of Plaka, Thissio and Monastiraki.

Wednesday 21/3 :

  • Visit to the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio and the town of Lavrio by coach.
  • Visit and guided tour of the Technological Park of Lavrion.
  • Presentation of the history of Lavrion in ancient and modern times by Dr H. Babounis, Professor of Modern Greek History at the University of Athens and by Dr K. Panagopoulos, Professor of Mechanics and Metallurgy, former Dean of the Polytechnic School of Athens.
  • Farewell dinner for all the partners hosted by the Director of Ralleion Mr K. Kyrlagitsis.

Thursday 22/3:

  • Free morning for touring and shopping.
  • Departure
VIENNA, JUNE 2007

The 15 Ralleion students were accompanied to Vienna by the three coordinating teachers, Ms P.Konstantopoulou , Philologist, Ms K. Mourginaki, French Teacher and Ms A.Christodoulou, EFL Teacher. The students were hosted by the families of 15 Theresianische Akademie students. The programme of the visit was as follows:

Saturday 23/6:

  • Informal reception at Theresianische Akademie
  • The Theresianische Akademie Ball

Sunday 24/6:

  • The Greek students were entertained by the host families

Monday 25/6:

  • Visit and guided tour of the historical centre of Vienna, visit and guided tour of the historical Greek district of Vienna and the Greek-Orthodox church.

Tuesday 26/6:

  • Guided tour of the city, visit of public and private buildings designed in the manner of classical Greek antiquity.
  • Guided tour in the gardens of Schonbrunn palace
  • Presentation of the projects of both schools at the Theresianische Akademie
  • Farewell dinner

Wednesday 27/6:

  • Free morning for touring and shopping.
  • Departure

The working languages of the project were English and French. The Greek coordinating teachers would like to thank the Director of Ralleion Mr K. Kyrlagitsis and Mr D. Agelidakis, ICT Teacher, for their valuable help and support throughout the project.
