During the meeting the partners made decisions on the dates for the Training Activity in Sweden (14-18/11/2017), the tentative dates of the short-term student exchange in Greece (18-22/4/2018) and the different tasks to be assigned to each school (Logo competition – Slovenia, Webpage – Sweden, Facebook page – Greece, Evaluation – baseline and post-activity measurement – Spain). Europass will be prepared for those partners and their students who wish so.
During their stay the participants also did the following:
Wikiloc introduction – Iceland: All partners downloaded the Wikiloc GPS tracking app. A drawn trail of a hike in Þjórsárdalur was imported. An example of a study kit using Wikiloc to track trails, make waypoints with photos etc. was introduced. The participants assumed the role of students. Among the tasks were to study: density of pumice, changes of dwelling quarters from the settlement time, craters and formation of basalt columns.
Excursion to Stöng and Gjáin in Þjórsárdalur using Wikiloc and solving tasks in a study kit. The excavation site in Stöng was observed. A hike to Gjáfoss, a waterfall surrounded by basalt columns and other geological features took place. Hjálparfoss was observed, a waterfall in the lavafields close to the confluence of the rivers Þjórsá and Fossá.
Golden Circle excursion. The partners visited Brúarhlöð, a canyon in the river Hvítá, Gullfoss (conservation vs. utilisation of natural resources), Geysir geothermal area, Þingvellir, a natural park and the place of the old parliament Reykjanes excursion. The participants observed the site of the tectonic movement between the continents. They also visited Reykjanesviti, a site of bird cliffs and geological formations, Gunnuhver, a site of hot spring and geothermal areas, Stampar, a site of small craters along a volcanic fissure from 13th century and Eyrarbakki – Þjórsárhraun to observe the changes of sea level after the last ice age.
