The students of class A3 visited the food products packaging company ?ELAIS? on 19 February 2013 in the framework of the subject ?Principles of Economy? accompanied by their Economy Teacher, Ms A. Mandelou. The students were given a warm welcome by Mr Manolis Vasilakis, Food Science Technologist, and Ms Zena Spyranti, Chemist, who presented the evolution of the company through the years. Elais is one of the largest Greek companies in the oil packaging business and is currently working on a joint venture with the multinational group of Unilever. The students were guided in the Oil Production Department and the Department of Packaging of olive oil, vegetable and seed oil and margarine. These departments are fully automated and equipped with peak technology machinery. The students also visited the Chemical Laboratory of the factory where quality is controlled using the latest computer technology which ensures compliance the required quality specifications.

We would like to thank Mr Manolis Vasilakis and Ms Zena Spyranti for their warm welcome. They managed to link classroom theory with the reality of work, business and market.
