Ralleion Geniko Peiramatiko Lykeio Thileon Pirea, after the initiative and under the coordination of Mr Georgios Katopodis and Mr Panagiotis Markopoulos, Biologists, Biology Teachers in Ralleion, in cooperation with the Panhellenic Association of Bioscientists organised the 7th Annual Biology Conference ?Society meets Modern Biology? in Pireas on 15th and 16th February 2013. The conference was organised in collaboration with the Directorate for Secondary Education of Pireas and the Laboratory Centre of Natural Sciences of Pireas.
The subjects of the conference included a variety of modern Biology issues, such as:
- prenatal testing and screening for chromosomic and formative anomalies of the fetus
- cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic analysis during prenatal and postnatal screening
- the response of the human immune system
- the contribution of the processes of the central biology dogma to Biotechnology
- circulation of pollutants in the environment and the food chain
- marine biodiversity
- the reduction of biodiversity and the role of Conservation Biology
- plant taxonomy
The speakers were distinguished University Professors and Researchers whose work in the field of Biology has been highly acclaimed.
The conference was attended by the local authorities and by many Secondary Education teachers and students from various schools in the prefecture of Pireas.
