Geoparks 2019Ms Katerina Christodoulou, Coordinator of the European program ERASMUS+ ΚΑ2 Routes to Outdoor Oriented Teaching and Sustainability/ ROOTS (2017-2020) and coordinating teacher for UNESCO Associated Schools Network in Ralleio, applied for and attended a training seminar on the contribution of UNESCO Geoparks to Sustainable Development Education, organised by the Greek National Committee for UNESCO, United Nations Regional Information Centre UNRIC, Eugenidis Foundation and Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest/UNESCO Geopark. The seminar was held on Wednesday 16/1/2019 at the amphitheater of Eugenidis Foundation in the framework of Education for the implementation of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The aim of the seminar was to raise awareness, promote and disseminate the Greek participation in the international program “UNESCO Geoparks”.

All participants attended lectures on sustainability issues and on the contribution of Geoparks to non-formal educational activities and outdoor oriented education, as well as their contribution to local societies in the framework of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
