During the two-year European program Erasmus+KA2 CCR, Ralleio teachers- members of the pedagogical team included Climate Change in the teaching of various school subjects. More specifically:

  1.  In the framework of the subject “Project” during school year 2017-18, A1 and A3 class students, under the guidance of teacher Ms M. Psoma, focused on the issues of Environmental Immigration, Environmental Literature, the effects of Climate Change on flora and fauna globally, and Climate Change in Europe and Greece. The projects were presented to teachers and students from the partner schools who visited Ralleio Lykeio for Learning Activity C3 from the 15th to the 19th of October 2018.
  2. In the framework of the subject “Greek Literature” during school year 2017-18, B2 class students E. Karydi and A. Kavallari worked with Literature teacher Ms K. Paidonomou on the book by A. Varela “My friend the Nut Tree”. Their project was also presented to teachers and students from the partner schools who visited Ralleio Lykeio for Learning Activity C3 from the 15th to the 19th of October 2018.
  3. In the framework of the subject “Civic Education” from 1/4/2019 to 12/4/2019, B2 class students A. Kavallari, E. Georgopoulou, T. Zogou and M. Kazazi worked with their teacher N. Panagiotopoulos on the social ramifications of Climate Change focusing on human health and health care.
  4. In the framework of Physics during school year 2017-18, B class students who participated in CCR, worked with their teacher, the Director Mr S. Oikonomidis, on the chaotic behavior of the atmosphere as a complex system, on the sensitive dependence of the initial conditions of the variables which determine the weather and on the understanding of the Butterfly Effect and its relation to Climate Change and its characteristics. The work was depicted on https://sites.google.com/view/butterfly-ccr/greece/learning-activities/the-butterfly-effect, which was created on the principles of formative evaluation. The group also conducted a workshop for teachers and students from the partner schools who visited Ralleio Lykeio for Learning Activity C3 from the 15th to the 19th of October 2018. B3 class students who attended the Science Branch also worked on the same subject in the framework of the chapter of Thermodynamics of the school textbook.
  5. In the framework of the subject “Civic Education” from 1/4/2019 to 12/4/2019, A5 class students worked on a Creative Project entitled “Climate change and environmental habits in Greece: An empirical survey”, putting together a 20-question survey which was distributed to and answered by 106 A class students, under the guidance of their teacher Mr D. Chalikias. The questionnaire focused on the knowledge of the students regarding Climate Change, their everyday environmental habits and any suggestions for future pro-environmental action.
  6. In the framework of C class Biology during school year 2018-19, students worked on issues related human beings and environmental problems, in connection to the Chapter “Humanity and the Environment” of the school textbook, under the guidance of their teacher, G. Katopodis. The students watched an educational video about the Greenhouse Effect and focused on environmental problems related to it, especially in Greece. Finally, students researched the causes of environmental problems and the human factor and discussed ways in which further environmental destruction could be averted.
  7. In the framework of Religious Education during school year 2017-18, C1 class students, under the guidance of their teacher Ms L. Mamali, discussed about environmental matters from the religious point of view. The basis of the discussion was homocentric (only humans have a moral stance) vs ecocentric approach (Earth morality). Students also discussed the ways in which further environmental destruction could be averted, as “we didn’t inherit the Erath from our ancestors, we borrowed it from our children”.
